THE SHOP
Greenwich Bay Woodworks is a local shop in East Greenwich, RI, offering handcrafted wood products including charcuterie boards, bowls and cutting boards. Each piece is designed and created by Joe Rodgers, often using unique, figured woods to ensure distinctiveness and beauty. Joe focuses on delivering functional, stylish items with an emphasis on quality and attention to detail. Joe also delights in creating custom work that bring an individuals ideas to life. Greenwich Bay Woodworks creates high-quality pieces that reflect a passion for woodworking and skilled craftsmanship.
THE PROCESS
The process begins with the acquisition of beautiful, high quality wood. Each piece of wood is carefully selected by the craftsman with an emphasis on unique qualities, such as wood figure. The products are created using hand tools and specialized woodworking equipment. When appropriate, products are provided a food-safe finish, typically using flaxseed oil.

Meet Joe Rodgers
Joe began developing his woodworking skills in a mill shop in Staunton, VA, nearly 50 years ago. Eventually he pursued another career but never lost his passion for woodworking. Fortunately, he was able to continue to use and advance his skills on a part–time basis. Upon retiring as a physician in 2019, he returned to full-time woodworking.
Caring
For Your Product
Most products are finished with flaxseed oil and beeswax.
Soap and water may be used to clean the product after use and it should then be towel dried. It should not be placed in a dishwasher or left to stand in water.
To preserve, protect and enhance the wood, a coat of flaxseed, linseed or mineral oil should be applied periodically, with excess oil being removed with a cloth.
