The first city in the world, Uruk, made its appearance in approximately 4,000 BC and was located in the historical region of southern Mesopotamia. Over the following millennium they made hundreds of thousands of a specific size and shape bowl. We now refer to them as Beveled Rim Bowls. They were made of clay and may have been used to measure daily rations given to a worker, though that is not certain. This is a wooden replica of these Beveled Rim Bowls.
